Aaron Gladd

Do you know Aaron Gladd?

Aaron Gladd is a proud life-long Upstate New Yorker who has devoted his life to public service – putting neighbors and nation first. He’s a father, husband, combat veteran and experienced public servant, and he understands what keeps us up at night. Today he’s standing up for our communities, families, veterans, farmers and small business owners with a common-sense approach to problem-solving.

Aaron climbed out of rural poverty through hard work, faith and perseverance, but he recognizes it is sometimes only possible with the help of a quality public education, strong community, and government that cares.

After high school, Aaron studied public law and earned a Master’s of Public Administration. He was selected for the prestigious New York State Senate Fellowship and worked for the Deputy Majority Leader, helping manage legislative and budget operations. In that position, Aaron saw first-hand where government worked – and where it didn’t.

In 2011, Aaron put his career on hold and answered the call to serve in the United States Army. He eventually became a platoon leader in the 1st Cavalry Division, where he led a 40-man unit on missions including a combat tour to Afghanistan.

Returning to civilian life, Aaron joined the administration of Governor Andrew M. Cuomo. There he rose to become Deputy Director of Policy, and helped craft policy to combat poverty and deliver real, lasting relief to struggling communities across the state. Some of the issues he worked on were the fight for universal broadband, women’s equality, tackling the opioid epidemic, and advancing the State’s infrastructure program.

As State Senator, Aaron will be a champion for middle class New Yorkers across the state who are struggling to get ahead. He isn’t afraid to stand up for what’s right. It’s what he’s done his whole life.

Aaron lives in Brunswick with his wife Samantha, a school teacher, and their two children, 3-year-old Aliyah and baby Carson.
